Terry Wibberg purchased Boardmans Nursery in 2000 and renamed it The Growers Outlet. Originally The Growers Outlet was started as a wholesale only operation to sell to landscapers, other nurseries and to supply our former satellite location in the Woodlands. Because of demand by customers in the area we abandoned the wholesale business to other nurseries and concentrated on supplying just local landscapers and our retail customers. Our business now is about 90% retail and 10% wholesale to landscapers.

We have 2 acres of growing and display area and grow many of the annuals and perennials that we sell. We buy in our shrubs and trees from the best local growers with shipments coming in at least once per week. If you don't see it here we can order it for you based on current availability.

In 2009 we received the award for highest quality and came in second place overall in ratings of nurseries in the Houston metro area as a result of surveys by customers run by RateANursery.com.

In the summer of 2010 we started construction of our 6000 square feet of display beds. These beds are constantly changing as we use them to test and show new introductions as well as old favorites.  By showing mature plants, our beautiful display beds will give you ideas on plant spacing and selection as well as companion planting.
 

In the spring of 2012 we started the Garden Market at the Growers Outlet. We ventured into the cafe business but have since closed the cafe. We did however gain a nice room for meetings and other private events. For more information click here.

 

In 2016 we purchased the building and extra land to the south of us which gave us 27 more paved parking spaces and a much needed all weather warehouse.

 

In 2018 we completed a much needed 2400 square foot greenhouse for growing large specialty patio pots and hanging baskets.

 

Because of the extensive growth in our area, including the new Howard Hughes Development community, The Woodlands Hills, In the summer of 2019 we finally purchased all the land that the garden center is located on. That was a huge step for us. The acquisition of the land now gives us the security we needed before investing in anymore capital improvements. The future looks sunny at the Growers Outlet.
