How to have the best looking yard
Growing turfgrass in the gulf coast area can be a challange. We have to try to grow nice lawns that will withstand extreme heat, droughts, tropical rainfall, diseases and insects. The Growers Outlet has the advice and the products needed to help you acheive yard of the month in your neighborhood at least once.
Below are some pictures of some common turfgrass problems we encounter. We cannot diagnose lawn issues over the phone or by emailed pictures. Please bring pictures with samples and accurate descriptions for best diagnosis.

A disease that can kill large sections of turf that will show symptoms during periods of heat stress on St. Augustine. Cultural controls seem to be most effective at this time. Come by for more information on the best solution.

This could be from one of several things including, iron deficiency, nutrient lock up, early symptoms of take all patch, or St. Augustine Decline. The first 3 can be remedied, the St. Augustine Decline cannot. Come in for advice on this one.

Grubs can play havoc on your lawn. They love to feed on the roots and will cause your lawn to decline and die as soon as heat and drought stress occur. Proper timing is important for treatment.

Chinch bug damage starts occurring at the first signs of heat and drought stress. The first area are usually adjacent to concrete walks and drives. The damage looks very much like take all patch and a process of elimination take place for correct diagnosis.

Brown patch is a disease that attacks your lawn during periods of cool nights and warm days. It usually won't kill your lawn but will cause large yellowing circles. Heaviest problem usually occurs in the fall. Chemical control is best achieved when used as a preventative. We have many products for control of brown patch.
